Thank you everyone who came out and ate, drank and got merry with Asheville Mardi Gras, Asheville Second Line, Zydeco Ya Ya and The Salvage Station! By all measures the 2018 Cajun Cook Off was a huge success. ALL the participating chefs brang it big … but through your votes, the following four got a little extra special distinction:
Best Amateur Chef: Leigh Glass and her Shrimp Creole
Best Dessert: Luscious Liquor Ice Cream‘s Vanilla Bourbon and Vegan Chocolate Cherry Cordial and Raspberry Stout Ice Cream with Praline Rum & Hot Fudge Whiskey Sauce
Best Vegetarian Dish: Bonfire‘s Red Beans & Rice
Best Overall: Oyster House and their Crawfish Bisque
Please support these chefs (or at least give them a pat on the back when you next see them), because they certainly deserve it — as do all of our participants.

About the Cook Off
Each year we pay tribute to the southern roots of Mardis Gras with a food and music fest known as the Cajun Cook Off. Twenty professional and amateur chefs from around Asheville are invited to show off their personal sizzle and spice by dishing up their takes on Cajun cuisine.
You’re welcome to sample a dish from all the chefs you want, but you’ll only be given three vouchers that you can use to vote for your favorites. Winners are announced at the end of the party but before that you can dance off those calories to a Cajun band and support AMG by buying tickets for our fabulous PRIZE GIVEAWAY!
